HOW TO MAKE 2019 A BETTER YEAR

So it’s few days to 2019 and I’m super excited about the prospects of it. You know why???? I guess not, so lemme tell you. 2019 is almost here and which other way can we start than to build a solid foundation for it. And when I say solid foundation, I mean SOLID FOUNDATION.

Many of us couldn’t achieve those goals we set due to varied reasons. Can I list them? YES! NO! YES! YES! NO! NO! NO! Hahaha, everyone is saying NO. Okay, enough of the back and forth.

So in my research of how to build a solid foundation for a better 2019, I’ve come up with ways you can get better results, achieve your goals and above all MAKE 2019 A BETTER YEAR.
I'm talking too much, huh? Aaaawwwww, you don’t like me 😢😢😢

No time to waste, LET’S BEGIN!!!

THE FIRST STEP IS TO REVIEW YOUR 2018

I believe to make your 2019 better, you need to review and measure how 2018 went. Review your entire goal list; the ones you achieved, the ones you stopped halfway and the ones you couldn’t start at all. Note them down one after the other; the victories, the challenges etc.

By doing so, you get a fair idea of the type of attitude and approach you gave to every goal and why you were able to achieve some and why you couldn’t also achieve the rest.

BE HONEST ABOUT IT; Give yourself a ‘HI-FIVE’ when it’s necessary and also be critical about your attitude towards those goals you couldn’t achieve.

BE THANKFUL

In SEASON 5 EPISODE 7 of THE FLASH [Oh yes, I love watching The Flash like crazy. I’m a die-hard fan of HARRY POTTER, I love watching Arrow, Super Girl and Black Lightning], the team [Barry, Iris, Caitlin, Cisco, Ralph, Nora and Sherloque] wanted to celebrate thanksgiving but then, Sherloque was against it due to the fact that there was nothing too good to celebrate about since each of them has had his/her fair share of bad and misfortune happenings. #AntiThanksgiving

I believe most of us feel or share the same thoughts but hey, I AM ALIVE; YOU ARE ALIVE.
YES, things didn’t go the way we wanted them to go; getting the worst heartbreaks; not embarking on that planned trip; not able to secure that business deal; getting hospitalized most of 2018; not getting that dream car and so on and so forth.

The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 ‘In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you’. The Bible didn’t say ‘in your victories’ or ‘in your successes’ or ‘in the things you achieved’ BUT said ‘IN EVERYTHING’; both the good and the bad.

You might not be where you want to be but trust me; you are not where you were a year ago.

The most important thing is YOU ARE ALIVE.
Again, the bible says in Ecclesiastes 9: 4 ‘For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope; for a living dog is better than a dead lion’

THINK AND IDENTIFY YOUR PATTERNS

After being grateful and thankful, you gotta THINK, ACT and REACT.

Ask yourself questions like; what was the motivating factor that helped me in achieving this goal? Was there a money or gift factor? A catalyst? External pressure? Change of environment? Competition? Etc.

Identifying these patterns helps you know what factor impeded you from achieving those goals, your strengths, weaknesses, natural interests etc.

Write them down and decide to work on the negatives.

WRITE DOWN YOUR GOALS FOR 2019

I know you are thinking ‘Even the 2018 goals, I couldn’t achieve them and you want me to write my 2019 goals?’ [Hahaha, I can read minds]

OH YES!!! Lemme repeat it again. WRITE DOWN YOUR GOALS for 2019.

This time around, let’s do something different. I want you to THINK DEEP and TAKE YOUR TIME IN WRITING THEM. The ones you want to achieve, improve upon, acquire, conquer etc. Career-wise, Finances, Relationships, Spirituality etc. BUT make sure they must be S.M.A.R.T. – SPECIFIC [Who; What; Where; Which; Why] MEASURABLE [Creating Criteria; Tracking Progress]ATTAINABLE [Developing Attitudes; Abilities; Skills] – REALISTIC [Willing; Able to Work]TIME BOUND [Anchoring it to a specific date or time period]

I recently read a Huff Post titled ‘The Power of Writing Down Your Goals and Dreams’ and damn, it changed my mind set. I really learnt a lot.

That’s the link: The Power of Writing Down Your Goals and Dreams

TAKE ACTION

No matter how well written and great your goals are, without taking action, IT WON'T COME TO PASS. It’s just as simple as that.

YOU NEED TO TAKE THAT STEP.

YOU NEED TO TAKE THAT MOVE.

STOP PROCRASTINATING.

YOU GOTTA START NOW.

RELATIONSHIPS

When I say relationships, I don’t mean having a boyfriend or girlfriend [Well, it may also be a factor; finding a partner who will help push you towards your goals; encourage you; advice you and so on] BUT having and building profitable relationships in terms of family, good friends, business associates, mentors, mentees etc.

This is a very crucial aspect because no one can exist on his or her own. You need a support system on this 2019 journey.

You might need an advice, a recommendation or what have you.

So, there you have it!!! Implement these things and trust me, with GOD on your side, 2019 WILL BE MUCH MUCH BETTER.

Lemme leave you with this beautiful quote: "Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world." - Harriet Tubman

But hey 2018 hasn’t ended yet so ENJOY THE REST OF THE DAYS TO THE FULLEST.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

    1. As the 3rd point said, THINK AND IDENTIFY YOUR PATTERNS. In doing so, you get to know why you always don't get much done. The Factors; Reasons; Motives etc.
Write your goals for 2019 and trust me, this year will be different.

      Thank You for reading.
